About Iceland Holidays
Iceland Holidays is an independent source for all statutory holidays, flag days, observances and school breaks in Iceland. The project is part of the Freedays portfolio — covering 11 countries in Northern Europe with a long-term plan to reach 50+ markets.
Why we built this
Three main problems with existing sources:
- Fragmented sources. Public holidays are in the Iceland Statute Book. Flag days are in Forsetaúrskurður 5/1991. School calendars are in each municipality separately. To get the full picture you have to consult dozens of websites.
- No leave optimisation. You want to know the best bridge day, how to multiply your 24 leave days with minimal effort. No Icelandic site does this currently.
- No 2027 editions. Most sources are limited to the current year. We publish 2026 and 2027 simultaneously so you can plan ahead.
